  • Psalm 121

I will lift up mine eyes unto the hills, from whence cometh my help.
My help  cometh from the Lord, which made heaven and earth.
He will not suffer thy foot to be moved:He that keepeth thee will not slumber.
Behold, he that keepeth Israel shall neither slumber or sleep.
The Lord is thy keeper: the Lord is thy shade upon thy right hand.
The sun shall not smite thee by day, nor the moon by night.
The Lord shall preserve thee from all evil: He shall preserve thy soul.
The Lord shall preserve thy going out and thy coming in from this time forth, and even forevermore.

Just what I needed to read/hear. Like a lullabye. Every thing's going to be alright. Thanks.

  • You've GOT to read this book!!

Got this book in the mail yesterday and I highly recommend it. It delves into the whole subject of Marx and who he really was and what his true intentions were in birthing communism. It is chock full of quotes and excerpts from his poems, letters, and other writings. It also has lots of quotes as well from others who were close to him personally such as family and friends( if you could call them that).  The book also examines some communist leaders. Marx started life as a Christian, but parted ways in his late teens. Contrary to popular belief, he was not an atheist. Quite the contrary. He turned his back on Christianity- no worse than that.  In one poem after his dark transformation he writes, " I wish to avenge myself against the One who rules above."  You really have to read the book to get the full gist of what the communist elites in history actually did that is never talked about. The beliefs and practices actually did trickle down to guards, teachers, school children and so forth. The guy who wrote this book was an actual prisoner of the Romanian Communist government.
One of the most pertinent parts for today's events for me(after reading all the historical background) was the appendix called" Can Communism be Christian?"
It speaks of liberation theology in churches, " which seeks to blend Christianity with Communism." What's so bad about helping the poor and spreading the wealth, DEFINITELY making sure that no one is left out because hey, the government is going to actually make sure that it happens? Well, it sounds like something Jesus would do, on the surface, right? Only the emphasis is on the Government and not Jesus. Government is God. In the book, Wurmbrand states:
"Liberation theologians proclaim an earthly paradise. Communism is this paradise, capitalism its foe. The church no longer waits for the coming of Jesus in the clouds of heaven. The triumph of communism will be equated with his coming. This explains why in Communist countries the God- hating Communist government has paid the clergy."   Marx & Satan, pg. 129
Now it seems to me that a lot of people do actually hold the same ideals as liberation theologians and not even know it. Are you depending on the government to take care of you instead of God? Sure, God can provide for you through the government, but where is the emphasis? Is our health, welfare, and security first and foremost from God and God's job, or is the almighty government's? Are some people waiting for a messiah to come in and transform their very lives through his/her governing abilities?
Jesus tell us to beware of wolves in sheep's clothing.  I really believe that Marx was one of those. There is probably more that just one wolf in sheep's clothing, I'm thinking! Wurmbrand has this to say about the wolves in sheep's clothing:
If the clothing speaks to us about doing good to mankind, we get hooked, forgetting that the worst of men can speak beautiful things.   Marx & Satan, pg.130
The Bible tells us to be wise as serpents and harmless as doves. Let's not get duped. I am talking about pure evil here, that seems to be always looming in the world and wanting to take over.  I want to be able to look through the smooth words of leaders and those in high places, and not be taken in by mere talk. I want God to lead me in  who I choose to support in this world.  Marx & Satan is only 5 bucks (not including shipping)  and worth every penny!!

  • A Little Teacher Gift to Say Thanks

I saw this idea on someone else's blog and I can't remember which one. It could have been the Motherload. I can't remember. The idea was to put a giftcard for a latte or something inside the actual to-go cup. Or put in a homemade mix in a baggie and put it inside the cup. I found a box of  instant single latte packets at Target for $2.99 and used those instead. It was General Foods International Coffee brand and it was a 6 pack of little packets for Vanilla Lattes. The to-go cups are Dixie brand and they came in a 16 pack, I believe. Those were around $1.89 at the commissary.  I just made these for the 5 teachers that teach my older 2 boys and I made one for my husband too( a surprise in his lunch!). The tags were simple. I just opened a word document and wrote Thanks*A*Latte!! , chose my font( I can't remember), increased the size(24 or 28 I think), copied it for the number of tags I needed, and spaced them out for ample room for cutting and to look okay.  I printed it out on cardstock and then cut them out and attached to a slightly larger piece of contrasting cardstock, and then attached that to a slightly larger piece of scrapbook paper whose color kind of reminded me of a coffee drink. I had originally planned to tie the tag onto the cup with ribbon but it wouldn't stay up, so the tags just got some dark brown ribbon on the top. That's why the ribbon is so long. Maybe this tag can be recycled as a bookmark? I don't know. I used hemp cord to tie the tag around the cups and it stayed!! I think they turned out cute and I hope the teachers like them and know that we appreciate them!!
